Halloween is upon us and I have been crafting up some magic to share with you all today. I have created a small reverse canvas using Sam’s witch cut and houses from the Santa Flying Christmas scene. Here’s how:

Step 1: Cut backing paper to fit inside frame and set aside, then adhere kitchen roll around the outside edge to hide any staples. Once dry add texture through a stencil with texture paste.

Step 2: Cut the pegs off the houses with sharp scissors to make bottom edge flat and colour with acrylic ink using a sponge and swiping motion to give a distressed look. Back windows with card and add clear pearl wand to the inserts to create a glass effect. I added spooky words from a free printable from Artful Play Days Facebook group for detail too. Paint witch.

Step 3: Cover canvas in black gesso and when dry colour with acrylic spray and shimmer mist. When dry tone down with waxes and Montana Spider Web Spray.

Step 4: Darken backing paper edge with distress ink and add some script stamping randomly for added detail before adhering inside the frame.

Step 5: Glue in houses and witch at varying depths with a hot glue gun to add dimension. Use gel medium and Artful Days texture sand along the bottom. Glue in Tim Holtz paper dolls to finish when sand is dry.

Happy Halloween all!
