Spring Journal by Lynda Hall

Spring Journal by Lynda Hall

Today I am sharing my take on the wonderful mdf journal cover. Hopefully Spring is now springing after all the recent snow, and I am turning my thoughts to my garden and wanted to create a journal where I can plan all my outdoor improvements this year so I wanted to create something bright and cheery. This is how I did it:

Step 1

I sponged a light coat of white gesso, and once dry I used a sponge to drag paint in shaeds of green and blue down the cover.

Step 2

I stamped background with colourful premanent inks and the main image in black and painted them with a combination of fluid acrylics, Twinkling H20s and sparkle pens, then added random lines with acrylic paint on the edge of a credit card.

Step 3

I sued a spray sealant on the journal as some of the paint used is water reactive.

Step 4

I strung the journal with yellow string ( I intend to replace this with elastic when I can find time to go and buy some!)

I can’t wait to fill it up and make the inside as pretty as the outside.

Thanks for reading

Lynda
