Bubble Pendant by Katy Leitch

Bubble Pendant by Katy Leitch

This is how my weird brain works – I saw these bubbles and thought they would make an awesome pendant! This is so simple to make but it really catches the light beautifully and is lightweight to wear.

Products used:

Samantha K: Acrylic Bubbles

Ranger Alcohol Inks in blues and greens

Therm-o-web Mixed Media Medium (or foiling glue of your choice)

Gilding flakes

Gloss varnish

Glue bail

Here’s how I made it:

1 Peel the backing off the acrylic before you start – it has a protective covering both sides. Add alcohol inks with a felt dabbing tool. Work with a mixture of colours and build up about 3 layers.  Use a pouncing motion to add the inks.

2 Add a layer of Mixed Media Medium (or your gilding glue of choice) and leave it until it becomes tacky. Add a layer of gilding flake and press into the medium. Let it settle for a while then rub back. If you have gaps, simply add more glue/flake until you have full coverage.

3 Add a layer of gloss varnish over the back to protect the flake. I didn’t but you can additionally stamp an image on the front side with StazOn if you like.
