Unique Unicorn by Karen Clare

Materials
3D Unicorn Kit
Brushos
Chunky Glitter
PVA Glue

I created this showpiece for the Kent craft show. I love using Brusho’s so after assembling the unicorn I gave the whole thing a couple of coats of white gesso. This gives a good base for the Brushos and the white will enhance the vibrant colours.
The thing about Brushos is to play around with them, they are such good fun. I chose just 3 or 4 colours for this piece. There are no set rules just play with the colours.
The colours were applied in two ways to build them up. Spritzing with water then sprinkling on and sprinkling then spritzing.
TIP *The thing to remember is that if you don’t like it they are water based so can be wiped back or re gessoed to start again! *

The important thing to remember is to dry each colour before moving to the next otherwise they can get muddy .Once you are more proficient you learn which colours mix well without muddying.
I continued to build the colour over the whole piece.
Once the front side was completed and dried I turned over and some of the colour had transferred from my mat to the other side, so I already had a good starting point.
I completed the 2nd side and finished by adding a chunky glitter to the horn.
I was thrilled with the result and hope you feel inspired to try out Brusho’s on your MDF.
