I thought I’d do a quick post detailing how I created the train piece that I made for Sam’s latest release. I love mechanical and steampunk stuff so this was right up my street!
To begin I arranged some embossed grungeboard on a square mdf plaque, layering it up. I added some die cuts from Studio Light, and some of Sam’s cogs, nuts and washers.

I then covered the whole thing in black gesso. When that was dry I painted over with copper Luscious powder

While this was drying I applied Pinflair Rust paste to the large cogs and added a patina over the top. I also added some patina to the base board. I painted the train in metallic paint and added gilding wax to finish before assembling the whole piece and adding a stamped sentiment.
