Steampunk Book Cover by Julie Wilson

  1. Run some sticky backed aluminium (available at builder’s merchants) through an embossing folder. I used an industrial folder by Tim Holtz
  2. Stick the foil to the front and back using a paper stump to push the foil into the MDF and enhancing the embossed images.
  3. Add SamanthaK’s MDF pipes, elements and cogs to the front cover making sure that you leave some of the background showing. I used 3D Gel Medium to stick all of the elements and then left it overnight to dry thoroughly.
  4. Use a soft stencil brush to dab a mixture of rust, brown and yellow paints over the front and back covers and dry using a heat gun. Keep doing this until you are happy with the effect.
  5. When dry gently rub with Finnabair Art Alchemy White Gold wax.

As this is difficult to explain I will create a video and put it on our Facebook Group Samantha K Mixed Media and Crafting
